From Samsung Android to Ipad- Headword's Mandarin Audio Different?

After using Pleco for 1/2 year on my Android phone, I just purchased an IPAD Mini Retina with the latest IOS 8.
Paid for the basic bundle and downloaded all the add-ons.

With the IPAD's Mandarin Audio add-on, I noticed that MANY of the headwords longer than one sylllable are not being played as actual one word recordings, but rather as slow seperate syllable recordings.

These same words on my Android phone have always been played as entire one word recordings..
Is there a difference in the audio collections or is something wrong going on here?

Check the Add-ons screen / 'purchased but not downloaded' - are the extended audio add-ons still waiting to be downloaded?

Double checked and YES, the extended audio add-ons are all downloaded...they do not say "waiting to be downloaded".

Hmm... Could you give me some examples of words that play correctly on the Samsung but not on the iPad?

Here's just a few that a came across just now to demonstrate...

chuzuche, xibanyayu, meiguoren, ditiezhan, zuqiuchang, shouhuojie, faduanxin, niuroumian

This morning checked a friend's Iphone and his recordings of "chuzuche" played the entire word whereas my IPAD is doing single seperated syllables.

Very Strange!!

Checked them all on my Samsung and all these words were played back as single one word recordings.

Anyone else experiencing the same situation?

Definitely sounds like the extended audio is missing, then - try deleting all of the audio add-ons (in Installed), then re-downloading them (in Purchased but not Downloaded) - does that help?

Just doing a test on "meiguoren", I think that is using the Pleco TTS add-on and not the extended audio. (If I turn off the TTS in the settings, it just plays individual syllables). "Meiguo" appears to use the extended audio though. Perhaps you don't have the add-on for the Pleco TTS?
Edit: also check your "Settings", "Audio" and see if "use TTS if no recording" is on. If this is off, it'll play individual syllables.

First, as Mikelove suggested:" try deleting all of the audio add-ons (in Installed), then re-downloading them (in Purchased but not Downloaded) - does that help?"
Did exactly that and nothing was different, same situation!

Second, JD you are absolutely right! Went to my Samsung and turned off "use TTS if no recording" and it now plays individual syllables on all of those above words!
Meiguo has an extended audio recording, meiguoren now goes to single syllables with the "use TTS if no recording" turned off.
So it DOES appear to be using the Pleco TTS add-on when there is no exact headword recording to be found.
Thank you JD, I never even noticed the "Use TTS if no recording" option on my android as it was always ticked on and running!

I downloaded the basic add-on bundle for my IPAD, but unlike the basic bundle on the Android, it does not seem to include the Pleco TTS add-on, is that correct?
So it has no Pleco TTS voices to fall back on?

@IDroid I know there were both the Apple-provided TTS and then extra purchase-able add-ons for Pleco TTS. It's odd that your iPad isn't defaulting over to the Apple TTS. Mine always did the Apple TTS until I purchased the Pleco TTS voices (at least that I remember).

The Basic Bundle on iOS doesn't include our TTS because there's the system TTS to fall back on - is "Use TTS if no recording" turned on in the corresponding settings panel on your iPad?

It's not defaulting to the Apple provided TTS.
Also, I'm not able to find where the "use TTS if no recording" option is anywhere under settings!
I'm using Ios. 8.02

I had 3.20, just updated to 3.2.1 and I am experiencing the same thing!

Here's the strangest part...under settings, audio and Headword Audio, I DO NOT HAVE "Use TTS if no recording" anywhere, I only have "Preferred Gender" and "Use Cantonese in pop/upOCR" (unlike the listings I see in the Pleco Instruction Document). Its just not anywhere to be seen!

The Apple female voice reads all sentences and longer than one word selections on captures from the Still OCR, so she is there at other times, just not when a non-exact recorded headword needs her help!

Any idea what's happening here??

Found the problem - until 3.2 we didn't consider the Apple TTS very usable for headword reading because we didn't have a way to force it to use the right reading for words / characters with multiple pronunciations, but now we've fixed that, and while we've registered that fix in most other places, there was a particular flag that wasn't being set that would make it eligible for "use TTS if no recording." So that'll be addressed in 3.2.2.

Did you previously pay for our TTS add-on (or a bundle) on Android? If so, contact support with your purchase details and we should be able to refund you for that purchase since you bought again on iOS.

Thanks for all the help...now at least I know it's not my IPAD specifically!:)

Contacted support (directly) about a refund for the double bundle purchase.

Cheers!
