I just noticed a bug in the KEY dictionary:
咸 xian2
HZ 咸
SN
1 all, entire
2 universal
3 Xian (one of the Bāguà 八卦 "Eight Trigrams" in the Yìjīng 易經/易经 "Book of Changes", used for divination according to Taoist beliefs)
4 Xian (surname)

The grammatical classification SN meaning surname only applies to 4. For 1 & 2, it should be S.V., static verb or ADV. WR.

Is there a way of displaying tags in the popup definition? I think that would be very useful.

I'm also wondering if there is any ways to do automatic tagging. For example, I have flashcards for all of the six books in the New Practical Chinese Reader series, that are sorted into chapters. It would be really nice if I could automatically tag them as NPCR1, NPCR2, … , NPCR70.

What is the best way display frequency information in Pleco? I've imported Jun Da's character frequency list and both of the Subtlex lists (one for words and one for characters) as user dictionaries. That works fine, but I'm wondering if there is some way to create a tag that could display top500, top2000 etc., or even better #337, #1762, etc., instead.

Popup definition tags: not at the moment, but it's on our to-do list.

Automatic tagging: good idea.

Frequency info: you could import one of those lists in pieces and assign tags to it, or import the whole list, sequentially split it into smaller lists (split command in the (i) screen) and assign tags to those, but nothing more automatic than that at the moment.

Regarding the reader (with vertical scrolling to off, pdf document): I think the page preview at the bottom is pretty useless. It roughly shows the position of the current page in the whole document, which is already indicated more precisely by the pagenumber above, the current page, already shown on the screen, and pages from the positions in the book. If the book has more than 20 pages those previews become increasingly random and therefore don't help much.
My suggestion: Show the local environment of the page, the current page in the middle and the pages right before and after on the left and right. Then you can slide around left and right and choose a page, maybe with effects (stacking like in coverflow or zoom on current center page). This would actually be helpful to jump back (eg. to look up definitions at the beginning of the chapter), forward (eg. to have a look at solutions...) or just to see how many pages of the chapter are left. For global navigation the button in the upper right is more useful anyway.

Makes sense - we definitely need to do more with that PDF UI since it's an increasingly popular feature.

Hopefully submitting this week - list of bugs to fix got rather enormous; a bunch of new obscure ones came to light in the past two weeks, including actually a few in our full-text indexer for CC-CEDICT ("washington dc" doesn't match "washington d.c." for example). We're almost tempted to just call it 3.3 except we really want to tie that to the not-quite-ready-yet PLC revamp.

Custom simplified characters are different between GF and GH.

GF's looks really thick and out of place.

Yeah, all of them are embedded PNG images at the moment - at some point we'll hire somebody to make vector font characters for some of the more popular embedded image ones but we're waiting until we're at a slightly more solid place with our dictionary data first.

Many times on my iPad (I don't read documents on my Android phone and so have never paid attention to this). I've used Settings/Manage Dictionaries/Reorder to move a couple of my own dictionaries to near the top of the 'Manage Dicts' list, and they seem to stay there for a while, but eventually, for a reason unknown to me, they again end up at the bottom of the list, so I don't see those definitions when I'm looking at some text in the reader until I click through all the other (15) dictionaries. Has anyone else seen this phenomena? This is not a new thing; it's been there for a while; through several iterations of the software. Is there some other way by which I am reordering the dictionaries other than going through the Settings/Manage Dictionaries/Reorder path? Is there some limit on the number of dictionaries that I've exceeded?

This is only happening with user dictionaries, right? It might be an issue with them failing to load (or loading after a very long delay) - we'll see if we can reproduce it, thanks.

This is correct... user dictionaries; they work correctly for a while and then once again for an unknown reason both end up at the bottom of the list; seems that they both move at the same time.

OK, think we've narrowed this down for 3.2.5. (which was held up just a tiny bit longer because we took delivery this week of data files for two more new add-ons that we want to include - really is going to feel like a 3.3 update)

Sometimes when launching pleco from another app to look up a character the whole result screen is still covered by the handwriting area or half the screen by the keyboard. Not really a big deal to hide the keyboard but avoidable nonetheless.

I think we'll finally submit it today, been trying really hard to get one exciting unannounced add-on ready but I don't think it's going to be so we'll have to punt it to our next update (but possibly leave the current code in so that we can let a few people beta-test it).
