How to save files from Web for Pleco

I'm sure this is an old chestnut. I've been given links to two sites for Chinese versions of the opera Farewell My Concubine and for Lilian Lee's novel Farewell to my Concubine. I have managed to download things right before now but I keep getting format problems. (I really want the text to the film, but I have actually got that as a book).

I am using a Mac but also have Windows in a virtual machine. I have previously saved things in Word for Windows as pure text encoded UTF-8. But when I cut and paste from here:

I get lots of boxes, both before and after saving as text/UTF-8.

I don't know if I can right-click and save - that seems just to lead to websites, or should I cut and paste each chapter separately - but that's not working, as above - or should I get one of those apps that download whole sites?

I have under Mac also got a Word program, and TextEdit - I've even got Wenlin, but I don't really know what I'm doing.

TIA

How about just printing the page to a PDF? That should come up happily in our PDF reader.

The page you link isn't in UTF-8, it's in GB-2312, and it may be that your browser is failing to convert it to UTF-8 when you save it - another browser might work better.

Thanks very much, Mike. I was just about to find and consult the manual.
I am surprised that the PDF option works, as I know this would be converted from a text file, but nevertheless it doesn't always work for translation memory programs. That's why I've got Aabby Fine Reader and it will even convert scans of Chinese files to digital.

But I tried Safari instead of Firefox, and not only did the PDF file work, but I also managed to paste the text into Word and create a text file that worked in Pleco.
