Side column with dictionary entries not showing up

I changed smartphones. The old phone was a Samsung M52, the new one is a foldable (Honor Magic V2).

On the Samsung you have on the left side a column with dictionary entries and on the right one the details of a specific dictionary entry.

On the new Honor phone the two columns are only visible when the phone is open (i.e. on the large 8 inch screen), but not on the smaller outer screen. The outer panel actually is not small at all, as it still has 6.4 inch.

I tried with the settings, but somehow couldn't manage to get the left dictionary column to display on the outer screen.

Is there any way to force the left dictionary column to appear?

We intentionally disable two-panel layouts on the small screens of foldable phones at the moment; it's essentially a hack because we don't offer separate folded versus non-folded UI options and we didn't want to force people to use that layout on their outer screens (when on many devices it would be unusable) in order to use it when the device is unfolded. When we next revamp the UI we do plan to add more flexibility around folded mode, but this made the most sense in the meantime.

I remember years ago when I bought the Samsung Mega 6.3, a 6.3 inch screen was considered really huge. But nowadays a 6.4 inch screen is considered too small for practical use...
