@ACardiganAndAFrown - got it.

@sahal - try packing it up in a .zip archive on your device before uploading it to Google Drive; Google Drive sometimes gets huffy about our flashcard backups + refuses to consider them as files even when our app asks it to list files of any type.

With copy-and-paste, turn on the option for clipboard monitoring in Settings / Search Interface and Settings / Reader - that will automatically update the search / clip reader screens when the text in the clipboard changes.

Zipping worked, but it seems a bit too much of a hassle for an occasional flashcard session on the ipad (I usually use my android phone, because it is easier to carry around. Btw. the problem was not that I did not see the backup files, but that they were greyed out.

Clipboard monitoring works like a charm. Nice!

It also seems to work if I access the file via the google drive app.
What does not work is
1. upload a file from my android phone
2. Import on the Ipad via Import/Export => Restore Database => External Files => (Google )Drive

Will continue investigating but it may be we have to restore to automatically zipping before we upload.

Finally! A bug! Ok, it's a really minor one, but it's still a bug.

This one may have been there a while, but it is definitely in 3.2.20.

I checked my Purchased but not Downloaded and saw the following:

How fast can you spot the error?

Heh, we actually dealt with a bunch of other bugs related to going over 4 GB in available downloads (= thus requiring the use of 64-bit numbers to count bytes) but seem to have missed one, thanks.

(the bug would have existed in every Pleco release since 2010, but the sum of all of the files in our catalog before this was a bit under 3 GB so it never came up)

Double heh; the fact I'm pointing out that my mobile phone is having a problem displaying the correct total for an 4GB download, on my phone and that I had to pause the download because it was downloading so fast that I was going to lose the screenshot

Think about that for a moment...

request for changed behavior / improvement (iphone and ipad). presently the search history button (clock symbol) is not visible at all times. eg. on ipad (when used as secondary app ~ floating window on top) the history button disappears when the cursor is made active inside the search area. to make the button reappear it is necessary to either complete a search or to hide the keyboard (which also makes the cursor become inactive inside the search area). i would very much prefer the search button to be visible at all times, without the need for extra steps to access it. thanks.

thanks! another one: miniscule pop up definition windows. would prefer bigger / configurable in size and positioning. everywhere. but the minisculity (and akward positioning, covering adjacent text) is especially bothersome in the reader (epub) where the pop up def is _the_ go-to lookup tool. supposing this gets an overhaul (paradigmatic even?) in 4.0? thanks.

We may tweak the size, but as far as covering adjacent text, it should generally only ever cover up later text when you're looking up something very high on the page and there isn't room for it to fit above instead of below the current line. Is that not what it's doing now, or are you bothered enough by those cases that you'd rather it did something else (e.g. go down an additional line so you can still see the next line)? Or would you prefer that we supported 'anchor to bottom' (Settings / Popup Definition) in more document formats?

To be honest, some of the quirks in the current design are pedagogical; we really don't think it's a good idea for people to 'live in' the popup bubble, it should come up when you need to look up a specific word and go away immediately afterwords rather than being used to scan through entire sentences. So I'm reluctant to make 'anchor to bottom' or some similar behavior the default, since that will make the popup reader feel less like a temporary modal thing and people might thus be more inclined to use it to look up every word in a sentence rather than searching their brain to recall the hard-but-not-impossible ones.

thanks. im using quite a large font and that is the cause of the adjacent line of text being covered extremely frequently. yes, i would like to have the anchor at bottom option also for epub. the larger size of the window is a must for me. for understanding the role of individual characters in words, often i need to consult the characters nth definition (or all of them) in the pop up window (obliging me to scroll down). on another note, it would also be nice to see enlarged chinese (excl pinyin / zhuyin) inside the pop up window (currently then enlarge chinese option does not apply to the pop up window). as for pedagogy, i appreciate configurability as long as it enhances (does not confuse and break) usability. every scholar, student or professional may have different needs and motivations for using the reader. thanks for a great product and for listening.

yet another request for the reader (epub): option to disable the page (selection) slide bar at the bottom of the page (see attached image). it takes up valuable space and is not always needed. also (and actually more important to me) in night mode it (especially the “blob”) is visually imposing; for the situations where the user would rather not disable the selection bar, this could be made more discrete via configurable coloring / shading. thanks.

Hi Mike,

Can you explain this to me? The following two screenshots show something I've not noticed before:

1.png
2.png

Two tests, both using the same score file, and same category selection. However the first one allows me to select the "Max number of cards" while the second one does not. I don't recall not being able to select the "Max number of cards". Possibly a change since 3.2.23?

The first test has a hundred characters waiting to be leaned, while the second has non. Are you filtering this menu item when there are no cards to review? (When I switch to this test, I can see the menu item appear briefly and then disappear)

Thanks.
