The finished Pleco 2.0.0 installation files are now available; we're putting them up on the forums a day or two before they go public on pleco.com just to make sure we haven't managed to introduce any new bugs / errors / missing files / etc.

Aside from three small bug fixes (one which caused crashes in failed full-text searches, one which caused crashes when attempting to create flashcards after a failed search, and one which prevented single-character searches in user dictionaries from matching longer words that started with those characters) the only change since b8c is that the application files on Windows Mobile are now code-signed, which means if you have a particularly locked-down smartphone you haven't been able to run Pleco on before due to security errors you may finally be able to do so with this version. (plus, there are no more annoying security alerts to click through when you run Pleco for the first time)

On Windows Mobile there's one additional fix in the slightly-updated 2.0.0a, correcting some crashing problems with one-syllable-at-a-time audio playback for words that aren't in Pleco's database - all of the WM files below now include that update, and WM users who already have 2.0 can install it with the "Updates" files below.

New User Instructions

The installation instructions in the manual should be quite accurate now, but the procedure for getting a keyfile to unlock 2.0 differs a bit from the one in the 2.0 upgrade guide. To activate your Pleco 2.0 upgrade, go to http://www.pleco.com/beta/pd2orders.html, log in with your "My Orders" email/password, then enter your System ID (obtained from the Ordering screen after installing 2.0) in the form on that page to receive your 2.0 keyfile. 2.0-specific dictionary and other upgrades can be purchased from that page after you activate 2.0.

Note that due to a bug in the website code (which hasn't been updated literally since Beta 1 came out more than a year ago), some System IDs (specifically Card IDs and IDs generated by some very old Palms) will be rejected by the system - if you wait a few more days the finished website should fix those bugs and accept any valid ID.

If you haven't bought Pleco yet, you can buy a copy of 1.0 Professional or Complete from our online store and then immediately activate your free 2.0 upgrade from that page above (your My Orders password will be in your order confirmation e-mail). You can also order the new 2.0 Linguist bundle (ABC/21st Century/Guifan dictionaries) from this page for Palm OS or this page for Pocket PC; you'll still need a 1.0 Device ID to place that order, but you'll get the correct combination of dictionaries once you activate 2.0.

The above posts / links have now been updated with the latest 2.0.0a application version on Windows Mobile (it's now in all of the installation packages) - this is exactly the same as the experimental audio-fix release except that it's now code-signed and has a more sensible version number, so there's not really that much need to update if you've already installed that.
