Accomodation at the BLCU

I just graduated high school and deferred college to study at the BLCU for one year. I'm planning on seeking accomodation in the BLCU dorms, but I don't know whether to go for the $3.50/day or $8/day one. Are there any differences besides that one has a refrigerator and airconditioning and the other doesn't? Right now, I'm leaning towards the $3.50 because I'm trying to save some money for travel. It's about $1,000 savings over one year.

Also, does anyone know about how much traveling I'll actually get to do during the school year. The BLCU's website makes it sound like we get literally 2 weeks off for the entire year!

Finally (this is sort of a non sequitur), what kinds of imported beers can you buy near campus?
