english tts - buttons not showing - chromium

I have English tts enabled on chromium but the buttons aren't showing in the Chinese dictionaries or the English dictionaries.

I have it enabled on iOS without any problems.

Tried toggling off/on again - to no avail.

Is this a known issue?

I don't really need it, per se, sometimes I just feel 手贱 and want to press buttons(!).

Check Settings / Audio - is there actually a TTS engine selected there? Might simply be that this simulated Android doesn't have TTS.

Yeah, no engine.

Then system tts settings crashes the app each time:

Ah, that would explain it then. We don't currently offer English TTS independent of Google's system, so not much can be done about this unfortunately.
