line breaks in definition field for imported flashcards

Is it possible to force a line break in the definition field of imported flashcards? I've tried using various control characters such as LINEFEED (ASC 10) and VERTICAL TAB (ASC 11) within the definition field, but they either get ignored or converted to CRLF and interpreted as a record break when the txt file is imported. Is there another way to force a line break in the definition field?

Yes - thoroughly unofficial but you can use the PUA character U+EAB1 and that will be turned into a line break.
