Pleco Demo 3 Crashed Treo

I tried out the demo, but tapping the PlecoDict icon just leads to an instant soft reset of my Treo 600.

The demo of the older Oxford software seemed to work fine.

Any thoughts?
 
Sounds like a memory problem (as most crashes are) - PlecoDict is significantly more memory-intensive than Oxford. How much free memory do you have on your Treo? If it's less than 2 MB or so, try deleting some files and see if that helps matters.

If that doesn't help, does your Treo have an SD card? (the little flash memory cards that go into the slot on top) When you installed PlecoDict, which version did you use, the Oxford-only one or the "complete" one? Did you use the automated or manual installer?

I have 6.6M free.

I have an SD card and I installed:
NWP.pdb
Oxford C-E.pdb
Oxford E-C.pdb
on the card.

I did not install: ABC.pdb

I have a Macintosh, so I used the Palm HotSync Manager to install.

I do have CJKOS installed, but it is turned off. Don't know if that would conflict or not.
 
I should also note that the soft reset is truly instant, about as fast as pressing the reset button itself!
 
Are you using MultiUserHack by any chance? There's a conflict with that which could be causing this problem - normally it brings up an error message, but the Treo's don't display error messages on resets (since they're designed primarily to be phones, and hence they want to get the thing reset and reconnected as quickly as possible).

If deleting MultiUserHack doesn't fix this, which cellular carrier to you use? If it's Cingular or T-Mobile, after the reset go into the Phone application and dial #*377; if it's Sprint, dial ##377, or if it's Verizon, dial #*#377. If you're outside the US, use ##377 if your phone is CDMA or #*377 if it's GSM. That will tell you exactly what the error was that caused the reset, and if you post that here I can give you some more specific advice about what to try next.
 
Thanks. I figured it out. The problem was that many of the files did not install. I opened the hotsync manager and noticed that there were still several files still in the queue.

A second hotsync fixed the problem
