Problem downloading needed files

I installed the .apk file and am then prompted to download a (large) file to the phone. This keeps failing part way through. Is there any way I can download what I need to my computer instead?

Does it try to reconnect after it fails, or does it just put up an error message?

Thanks for that. It was trying to reconnect, but without success. However, I just tried again this morning and it worked fine, and fast. That link will be very useful though.
