Selecting words in definitions to search

On the Ipad, I can touch an English or Chinese word in a dictionary definition and bring up the option to search or copy that word. On the Android, I can select an Chinese word to have its definition pop up, but the English is inactive and can't be selected to copy or search. Is that how the Android version is designed or is something wrong with my system or settings?

That's how it's designed at the moment. (unlike on iOS, on Android we're relying on the system-supplied text viewer UI and it's much harder to manipulate than the custom-developed one we use on iOS)
