Should I upgrade (SJ20 to TJ25)?

I'm considering upgrading my Palm from a Sony Clie SJ20 (16 MB RAM, 33 MHz processor, Palm OS 4.1, Memory Stick non-Pro) to a Clie TJ25 (16 MB RAM, 200 MHz processor, Palm OS 5.2.1, Memory Stick Pro). The TJ25 is $149.99 after rebates at Staples for the next two weeks.

Does anyone know what kind of difference it will make for Oxford (besides losing the magnify feature)? Will I see a noticeable increase in application speed, or does OS5 use up all the extra processor speed? Will a Memory Stick Pro help speed things up? I'm pretty happy with the SJ20, but wouldn't mind faster character recognition and access to add-in dictionaries like CEDICT.

Thanks for any info.

At the moment, the difference is negligible. The dictionary is not yet accelerated for OS5 devices, so there probably won't be a major speed increase, and we don't make much use of color yet, so there's not a big difference between the SJ20's screen and a TJ25's for the purposes of running our software. Nothing that's likely to outweigh the disadvantage of the lost magnification anyway (though that will be corrected in our summer release).

However, that summer release will also be OS5-accelerated, and we've got an interesting new feature that uses color too, so there may be some advantages to having a TJ25 then. But it's not worth buying an OS5 device now to take advantage of a discount; with the introduction of OS6 devices in the next few months, the price of OS5 ones will likely take a nosedive, and I can easily imagine that by this summer the TJ25 will be in bargain bins for $100 or less. There may even be some reasonably-priced OS6 ones by then, which will have all sorts of great new features like multitasking, protected memory (so no more reset-inducing crashes), much better media playback, security, etc.
