Using SD Reader vs. HotSync?

I find using the HotSync method slow and tedious. Especially when playing around with files to upload (establishing a personal minimal set). Would using an SD reader be faster than HotSync? What of other files such as MP3 and .JPG files? Would it be advantageous to use an USB 2.0 SD reader in terms of speed? Or does the HotSync method 'prepare' the files in a certain location on the SD card?

That's a good question (since i asked it!)...I wonder if using A SanDisk ImageMate USB 2.0 would be faster that HotSyncing...

An SD reader would be much faster than HotSyncing, for both Palm databases and MP3 or JPG files. HotSyncing doesn't really do anything but copy the files over, and you can easily copy them to the same place it does (the /Palm/Launcher directory) with a USB reader. And a USB 2.0 reader would likely give you a sizable speed boost over a USB 1.0/1.1 reader.
