What does the '*' mean on ABC dictionary?

When I look up something like gao4su4, the closest I found was gao4su*, which I'm sure (from context) is the correct word.

But, what does the '*' mean? I couldn't find it in the PDA dictionary.

The * means that this is the most common word with that particular Pinyin, WITHOUT regard to tones - useful to make an educated guess about meaning if you see a Pinyin word without tones on a sign, or if you hear something and you're not 100% sure you heard the tones correctly.

ABC thread ?

Not sure this is the right thread - just wondering about how to report ABC errors. For example, under shuofuli (说服力 shuōf?l? persuasiveness) you find what you said was very persuasiveness.
