漢語大辭典 vs 現代漢語大辭典

What does Hànyǔ dà cídiǎn 漢語大辭典 not have that Xiàndaì hànyǔ cídiǎn 現代漢語大辭典has?

Pleco mentions that much of the latter xdhydcd (which is of course cheaper and smaller) is in the former hydcd. I own hydcd and have compared with the demo version of xdhydcd. I have found little that isn't in hydcd but of course with well over 100k entries my search was not exhaustive to say the least. Thanks.

Very little, XDHYDCD is mostly an abridgment of HYDCD. (some people like to have both just for the narrowing-down - XDHYDCD culls out both old words and old meanings and so there might be some situations where you only want that narrower data set)
