Which entry is this? I'm looking at 2.1b1 on a Tungsten T3 right now and it doesn't appear to be exhibiting this behavior... are you sure it applies to all entries? Is there any chance that your T3's display might be misaligned? Try going to the Digitizer section of the Prefs panel and see if that fixes it.
It seems to happen with all two or more character entries. I'm using a Tungsten T3 as well.
I don't think it's a misaligned display because if I click on the left character of a two character entry, I get an enlarged picture of the right character and vice versa.
I think I've found what seems to cause the problem - it seems to show the above behaviour only if I have CJKOS turned on. I'm using CJKOS 4.61. With CJKOS turned off, it works fine.
