Bonjour,

Recently, I use my palm to learn chinese song : I get the lyrics and mp3 from there : http://mp3.baidu.com/

include the lyrics in a note and start looking for what I don't understand : lot of copy/paste from note to dictionary !

It will be very useful to have a option to tell the dictionary to automatically paste what have been pasted when switching to dictionary (if the content is not longer than 10 caracteres, for example) : sound not to difficult to implement but will be very useful.

On the same level, can you switch to Chinese/english when chinese characters are in the research field ?

Thank you again for your wonderful tool.

PS: On a side note, I'm looking for good chinese music and lyrics to learn and sing along with my ipod while walking down the street... can you give me some advice (I prefere Eminem, Pixies and Bob Dylan to Mariah Carey and Celine Dion).
Eventually, If you're looking for good french rap music, you should try BISSO na BISSO (a mix between rap & african music, only 1 record available : Racines) and NTM (the best french rap group, two very good records : Paris sous les bombes & Supreme NTM)

In the current version, switching Chinese/English automatically clears out the input field, but we'll probably change that in the next version or at least make it optional or otherwise implement it better. As for copy-and-paste, you actually don't even need to do that with the current version of the dictionary; we have a great little feature called Instant Access that lets you highlight a word in any application and instantly bring up its definition in the dictionary. See the instruction manual at http://www.pleco.com/oxfordmanual.html#instaccess for details. Right now this doesn't work very well unless you're using simplified characters, but we're planning some major enhancements to it in PlecoDict (as we switch from GB to Unicode for our internal text encoding) and it should then work well with both simplified and traditional characters.

D?sol?, I didn't read the Manual !!!

I'm really sorry, I didn't read it : it works really welll, thank you a lot.

Fortunatelly, I'm just using the included memo application (one memo per song)... I've spent a lot of time of time before converting character set using QeX 2 from Qland.de.

Bonne journ?e !

Not quite perfect

Bonjour,

Finally, the instant access solution doesnt work to well for me.

As I want to add the unknow word into a flashcard list and this feature is not available when using instant access.

So the idea to set a switch to paste copied data in the search field will still be a good idea (I saw it in other dictionnary).

An other nice touch, for me at last, is to a shortcut to select and copy immediatly the pinyin for the current word, so I can go back to notes and paste it near the unknow characters.

(at the moment, my way to do it is :
1/ select unkonw word in lyrics.
2/ copy it
3/ go the pleco dictionnary
4/ paste it
5/ select pinyin
6/ go back to lyrics
7 paste it at the end of sentence.
... and then, using my knowledge and written pinyin, trying to do karaoke while listening to the music and looking at my palm screen (I even do it while walking down the road in Paris... I think I look really really strange, bur it is really very very effective to learn a lot of vocabulary and spelling in a very short amount of time).

Actually PlecoDict's Instant Access mode should include the ability to add words to a flashcard list. The only reason we didn't allow this in Oxford is that we didn't have space for it - Palm OS only allows a program to access 64k of its code when it's running as a pop-up on top of another application, and we used up pretty much all of that space just making the basic dictionary work. (this is also the reason why handwriting recognition and radical input are unavailable in Instant Access) In PlecoDict, we've managed to shrink a lot of our other code, so there should now be room to enable flashcards in Instant Access.
