ABC dictionary problem on TX

Hello Mike,

I'm in the process of migrating PlecoDict from my old T|T to a brandnew TX. Unfortunately I'm facing unexpected problems.

I've installed the following things in the TX's internal memory using FileX copying the files from a SD card into internal memory:
*ABC
*OXFORD C-E, E-C
*NWP
*Unihan
*CEDICT
*ADSO
*PlecoDict, HWR, fonts, ...

Running the keyfile gives the usual message when starting PlecoDict. However, the ABC dictonary does not show up, neither under unpaid nor paid dictionaries. I've installed the ABC several times, deleting the old one from the internal memory. I've also downloaded the ZIP file ppcomplete103.zip a second time and cross-checked files. No chance, the ABC does not show up.

Now that is ugly. Any help is appreciated! I'm lost without ABC!

TX madness update

This is crazy: I've moved the files on SD to their proper place in /Palm/Programs/PlecoDict and deleted all dictionaries in the internal memory. Another run of the licensing program and ABC is available.

Well, there is now much more internal memory available, but ... :?

Still, any suggestions on why the ABC dictionary file does not work in internal memory? :cry: (except: Palm! of course)

That's odd... are you running any other applications in the background? Any MP3 players, that sort of thing? It's possible that your TX's database caching system could have gotten overloaded from accessing other files, though it's pretty unlikely since they really made a big effort to avoid that on the TX. The only other possibility I can think of is that somehow the database was corrupted when it was copied into internal memory - Palm's database system can be a bit more tolerant of errors when the database is being read off of an SD card instead of in internal memory.

Hello Mike,

nothing unusual installed. And no MP3 player in the background. I've copied the dictionary from the SD card multiple times, but without success. lt's indeed odd.

BTW - l'm writing this post on my TX connected to DSL via WLAN. Very usefull!
