Anki Update -> Duplicate checking no longer working?

I hope this isn't an old problem but since the latest Anki update my duplicate checking doesn't work any longer and I was wondering whether there is some kind of workaround since it can be hard to keep track of ~4000 cards and avoid duplicates. Thank you in advance!
