E-Ink and pleco

Dear Mike

I really enjoy using Pleco's document reader, however I find looking at a tablet screen for too long gives me bad headaches. What I would really like is to be able to use pleco on an E-Ink screen. I've been looking for an E-Ink device that runs android but am not having much success. I was wondering if there were any devices that you could recommend.

We have a couple of users running the Onyx Boox T68, but I haven't gotten any recent updates from them about whether or not it still works (and how well) - will probably work with the old version of Pleco (2.4.19) at least, and while the reader in that didn't support pagination it did support scrolling with hardware buttons so you should be able to get a serviceable navigation experience through that.
 
I have a Sony PRS-T1 which can run the old version of Pleco, the new one shouldn't work as the reader runs on Android 2.x. Newer versions of the Sony eReader also run on Android, but you would have to check if it is possible to root them, because installing additional apps is officially not supported.
Also, Sony seems to have kind of given up its eReaders, haven't looked into it lately but I think they don't keep up featurewise.
 
I'm very tempted to buy yotaphone2 for flashcard testing, reading and dictionary lookup on the e-ink side.
Anybody using this phone with pleco?

I actually have such a device, an Onyx Boox T68, but I stopped trying to use it for Pleco. The touch screen is just utter ****. I use it only for e-books now, but even for that only because I don't have a better option at the moment, the device restarts randomly after 10-100 page turns. It has been in repair twice in just a year. The first time they fixed nothing, the second time they changed a broken screen, that broke inside the cover it came with, that was in another cover, that was in a small bag, that was in my backpack. I think someone glanced (!) at my backpack and the screen broke (the bag was not dropped, hit, etc.). I really cannot say anything good about either the device or customer service.

They looked at the video and asked me what is wrong with it, it looks perfect, it works, no? That its impossible to hit a button, because every time you touch the screen it registers the touch at a different position they did not understand.

Do I need to say more? Stay. Away. From. It.

Aw, rats. Thanks for this, gabor -- you've destroyed my dreams, but you've saved me a lot of time and agony in the process.
 
Have there been any new devices recently? My phone broke, and although I’m trying to go cold turkey for a while (it’s possible!), I’m keeping my eyes open for an e-ink android phone capable of running pleco.
 
I know the post is old, but in case anyone is interested, I am running Pleco 3.2.41 in my Onyx Boox C67ML (Android 4.2 based). I used mainly for reading and works fine for me. Actually is the best app for reading books in Chinese that I have :) (faster than any other app combined with Goldendict/Stardict).
