Entrylist sorting

Hi!

I?m building my own chinese-english userdictionary on the go and I would like that my entrys in the entrylist show up in alphabetical order, which they do not. Now, I?m pretty sure there is no feature at the moment sort them for me but there might be a workaround.

I have in mind to export the userdictionary (is there a possibility to do this without tapping every entry and add it to a flashcard list) and load it in Excel. In Excel it?s easy to sort and save it as Unicode. Reimported it should show the right direction but are my flashcardfiles who are related to the userdictionary still still working working after such a surgery?

Any suggestions?

Cheers!
Cas

PS: With "userdictionary", I?m talking about the one that is shown in Plecodict as USR.

You're correct that at present there's no feature to do this sorting automatically - we did some experiments with adding one in the beta versions, but ultimately it proved too complicated to include in 1.0. Hopefully it will crop up in a future release.

The method you've described should work, however you'll want to make sure to delete your old user database file before you reimport the sorted list - otherwise you'll end up with duplicate entries. And I'm afraid there's no way in the current version to preserve those flashcard links - they'll come up as "INVALID" if you delete your old user database. The best you could do is to copy your old user database file to an SD card instead of deleting it altogether; that way, PlecoDict will create a new user dictionary to accommodate the newly reimported entries (without having duplicated or out-of-order entries from the old one), but the old dictionary will still be around for the flashcards to link to. Once we add a file manager function (which will likely happen a lot sooner than the other improvements I've talked about) you'll be able to disable the old user dictionary from even coming up in searches or when cycling through dictionaries.
