Flashcards: Horizontal button Layout?

Would it be possible to support a horizontal button layout for the check/x buttons, to more easily support one-handed use on an iPad? I end up using my iPad mini quite a bit while standing on the bus. I got one hand holding my iPad, while the other one hangs on for dear life.

Sorry, not quite sure if I understand - are you holding the iPad in landscape orientation but hoping to control flashcards by tapping buttons on the bottom of the screen, or are you holding the iPad in portrait orientation but hoping to control flashcards by tapping buttons on the side of the screen?

Ah! Portrait orientation, with taps on side of the screen.

Landscape works well for holding on the right side, but buttons always stay on the right side when flipping orientation. Doesn't seem like an issue unless doing flashcards when it's freezing outside, and one has to regularly swap hands to keep them from freezing.

Ah, so would it also help if we were to adopt a "bottom of device" / "top of device" option as we do for the list placement in the dictionary search screen?

For portrait, would be nice if buttons extended to both sides.
For landscape, bottom/top of device would do the trick!
