Is handwriting recongition for full screen input (e.g. left hand size of dictionary), less accurate than using the "Ru" button? I rarely get accurate input in full screen mode, but always do in input specalized mode,.

Not inherently - they use the exact same algorithm - but on some smartphones it's possible that the built-in touch-scrolling system could interfere with stroke capture; try installing 2.0.1 and enabling the "Attempt to disable TouchFlo" option in the Input panel of Preferences and see if that helps any.
