I followed the instruction but with no luck.
I use a windows 6.1 device.

Copyed "Pleco-WM5.exe" and "PlecoHWR.dll" to \programme\Pleco
and all the rest to internal storage "Pleco". But each time I start the exe it tell me that no dictionary is installed.... :?

Still no chance...

Now I copyed "Pleco-WM5.exe" and "PlecoHWR.dll" to "\Pleco" and "\programme\pleco" and "Program Files\pleco"
and all the other files to the "internal storage\Pleco" "internal storage\programme\pleco" and "internal storage\Program Files\pleco"

But anyway which exe (at three locations now) I start, each time it says that no dictionary could be found... :x

What about if you just put them in internal storage, does that help? Also try soft resetting your Pocket PC just in case the files are somehow going missing that way.

Hi,

also tried that but it still don't work. I nearly copied all files to all possible locations and tried to start them but each time the same error.
I use a german XDA Diamond which has no SD Card slot but 4gig internal storage.

Hmm... the German path names shouldn't be an issue, we use a system function to find the localized name of the "Program Files" directory. Did you try putting the files in the root directory of the whole system (\\)? And are you sure these \Programme, \Pleco, \Program Files, etc folders were being created in the root directory rather than in your My Documents folder? (My Documents is usually what appears first when you open up the Mobile Device icon, you have to open up "My Windows Mobile-based Device" to get the root directory)

We should have the first trial version of our automated Pocket PC installer up here in a few days (already basically works, just have to configure it with the right files) so that might fix this if you can't get it working any other way.

I used Total Commander to copy all files right on the device. Thus I´m sure to use the root directories.
Atm I copied all folders of the zip file to "\internal Storage\Pleco" and as well to "\internal Storage\Programme\Pleco" and "\internal Storage\Program Files\Pleco"
while I only copied "Pleco-WM5.exe" and "PlecoHWR.dll" to the root of the device "\Pleco", "\Programme\Pleco" and "\Program Files\Pleco". But it don't starts at any of this locations.

"Internal Storage" is something like the (hard) build in 4gig sd card on the diamond.

I can't copy everything in the root directory of the phone because there is not enough space for it. Thus I have to save the majority of files on the build in Sd Card (internal storage).

But what if you just put a few files in that root directory to try out, e.g. the font files and one small dictionary like oxce - does that start up correctly?

I think I see the problem - you can't preserve the folder structure in the zip file - that's just for separation of Palm/PPC and a bit of organization. Everything needs to be in one single directory \Pleco

Thank you all.
Yes, that was the problem. I not realized I had to copy all the files in one folder. I left them all in their subdirectories and then just copied the directories to "\Pleco". Now I managed it to work. Thx alot!

Yes, that's the same problem I had which you can read about in the feedback thread posts from yesterday ;)

Intuitively, I can understand why platform-specific folders would not appear as-is in the installations, but I would expect other folders to be carried over as-is - otherwise, why have them in the first place?

Its ok, that was a rhetorical question. I don't want to start a debate on such an unimportant point! especially considering there will soon be an installer to hide all this stuff.

Hi Mike!

I think it would be good to emphasize that in the installation instruction since the way most people try is the way php-scripts and the like are installed in Unix systems. I tried the same way and it cost me hours ...
Now this thread will probably do until the installatin routine is out ...

Hey - PD2b5 is great. I really like it a lot! Had some minor issues but really - I feel like it is counterproductive to write them down since that consumes your time and I am pretty sure that most of it has been mentioned already and I do not have the time to read all that ...

best regards
Daniel

Good point on that, we'd actually rewritten the file search code to look inside of subdirectories like that but found a bug in it the day before we were going to release B5 and had to temporarily go back to the old version until we can fix it. But yes, it'll all become moot after the installer is ready.

Glad you're liking the software otherwise - a few minor bugs are OK in a finished product but after spending 2-and-a-half years on this we'd really like to get it as polished as we can.

Flashcard: Dictionaries seem to be working on my Clie TH-55. Unfortunately, the flashcards don't seem to work. The error message says "the flashcard system failed to initialize correctly - exit Pleco, soft reset your handheld and try again." I rebooted but it still doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like it's trying and failing to create a flashcard database file - go into the Preferences screen, Search Paths, and make sure "PDB" is selected, then reopen Pleco and try again. If that doesn't fix it, use FileZ or another file manager utility to go in and delete any files named "Pleco Flashcards" or "PlecoFlash" from internal memory.

I am now with a 20000 flashcard export to the external flashcard. It said it was "successful". I am moving to import it as an ".XML" import. not a pleco file. (I cannot see the flash card if it is a pleco file).

Now when I go to import, it fails. Will I be able to use the .xml file for import into the windows mobile version on the Axim I ordered?
