Also embedded in the latest release of our iOS app and will shortly be on Android too (and is in the beta release now), but if you want it directly, here it is. Notably, in this version we added definitions for 100 or so words that are defined in Pleco but in which the default definition in PLC might not surface the most common HSK meanings in an obvious way; we're in the process of fixing that on the PLC side for 4.0, but we wanted something that was more durable for our legacy apps.

Hi. Note sure if I should ask here.
I already have the old HSK 3.0 deck.
After I download and import the HSK 3.1 file, it creates many duplicate cards like the example below

the first record bu2yao4 is from HSK3.0 deck
the second bu4yao4 is from HSK3.1 deck

I have already undo the import and will do the import again.
How can I prevent the duplicates?

Unfortunately, we don't have a great way to prevent this in the built-in file because we're focused on trying to be accurate to the official HSK materials - with their official pronunciations - even if we were not as accurate in the previous version.

In general in this situation we would suggest that you study the updated/duplicate words with their updated pronunciations; if you're confident that you know a word you can always set it to a lower priority or remove it from the category or delete it.

If you prefer, I've attached an alternate file that just contains a list of words and nothing else, so it will match up reliably against existing cards even if the pronunciation doesn't match; you can import this into Pleco through 'import/export' / 'import cards.'

Thank you so much, Mike.

Could you share the reference for this? I wasnt able to find the official source online.
I could only got my hand on this from a reddit post. dont think it's official though.

Sorry, yes, the one area we did change the pinyin was undoing sandhi transformations like this since the convention in dictionaries is not to show them; instead we show the unmodified pinyin but then play audio with the correct pinyin. Following that convention means that words will match up correctly with the pronunciation in most of our dictionaries, which in most cases means fewer duplicate cards rather than more of them (i.e. if you added bu4yao4 manually from a reader lookup).

bu2yao4 should not match anything, but in your case seems to have matched an entry in Tuttle because they happen to be the one dictionary in our bundles that doesn't follow that rule (though we're planning to fix that). If you didn't happen to have that dictionary installed, it would have fallen back on a dictionary where the pinyin didn't match and picked up that bu4yao4 pronunciation anyway.

Basically, neither entry is incorrect, the approach in the new file is a better fit with the rest of Pleco going forward, but if you prefer not to deal with that change you can import that other file I uploaded and that should preserve your existing cards.
