Latest Beta Crashing

Sorry Mike haven't even gotten around to replying your email, but the app keeps crashing on my atm.

I've pushed two apple reports already - I think another one is brewing right now, but figured this might be slightly more urgent.

I've just been querying the dictionaries, then it freezes up either on nothing or clicking a dictionary entry or something. The cursor at the top keeps blinking tho - so that's interesting behavior. Usually I have to go to the home screen and then come back to Pleco to get it to crash.

Here the keyboard has completely fallen out afterwards:

That's odd, I'm not seeing any crash logs on our end. Did you include feedback?

Also, what version of iOS are you using? Could you email me a backup of your flashcard database?
 
Yeah, I included short feedback each time.

Oh shoot, you might be right I just updated to 26.4 beta 1 last night? Everything was working okay before.

I saw the Testflight update (3.99.1.42.0) that says it fixes the crashes on iOS 26.4 beta, and ever since that, the app crashes every time on iOS 26.3.1. I've restarted the phone (17 Pro Max if that makes any difference) several times and tried reinstalling the app, nothing works. I just went back to the App Store version so I can use the app.

You can revert to a previous version of 4.0 via TestFlight, but a lot of people are using it successfully on 26.3 so I don’t know if the problem is intrinsic to that - what were you doing when it crashed?
 
Literally just trying to open the app. To be fair previous versions had similar issues as well, but after a couple of attempts, it opened and worked fine. The latest one doesn't open at all, and I've tried over 20 times (I only sent feedback for 2-3, however). I'll need to use the app more than usual over the next few weeks, so I can't deal with the instability the TF versions have been giving me. Once that part is over, I'll consider reinstalling the TF version. I just meant to let you guys know that the crashes are happening because it's been weeks so far.

We haven’t seen a lot of reports of crashes, weirdly enough. We’re in the midst of a larger update so it’s been a few weeks since we last released an update, but there isn’t currently any major crash we’re aware of.
 
Yeah, I figured it's not a widespread issue or something would be done or posted about it. FYI, I just tried again and sent 3 crash reports on build 42. Then tried build 41, same thing. Build 40 opens, but as I said, since I'll need the app more than usual for a few weeks, I'll reinstall the App Store version until I can deal with possible crashes. As a last point, one of the big barriers in my case is the fact that switching from AS to TF versions requires several gigabytes of add-on downloads, so there is no way to try TF and quickly revert to another version if necessary because that'd mean quite some time setting up everything again.

Have you installed the Pleco Legacy version? You should have received an invite to that too, it lets you have both the old and new apps installed simultaneously.

“Flashcard database” - which we ought to rename - actually contains all of your user data in 4.0; you can back it up in Organize / Import/Export.
 
I got the invitation in 2024, but the TF link on that email doesn't work. It opens TF, but then pops a message saying "The app isn't available. Try again." I tried searching in the App Store (because the email says you guys plan on keeping that in the App Store for people who don't want to upgrade to the new version), but could not find it there either.

I then reinstalled build 40, went to Settings and found the link to download the old version. Clicked on that, it opened the App Store but showed me a pop-up saying "App Not Available - This app is currently not available in your country or region." My Apple account is an US one, even though I live in mainland China. I'm not sure this would be why either error (App Store or TestFlight) are happening.

I got the backup. Where should I send it to?
