Unfortunately, this relates to some changes in the latest version of the Android developer kit, changes which we were required to adopt recently in order to continue listing our app on Google Play.
The alternative that Google has been steering everyone towards in recent versions of Android is doing this sort of app launch action from the shortcut menu instead, which you can get to by long pressing on the Pleco icon. You can configure which specific actions appear there in Settings / Miscellaneous / Configure Shortcuts. If you’d like to preserve the ability to launch a particular shortcut with just a tap of an icon, you can add it to that menu, then go to your Android device’s launcher screen, long press the Pleco icon, long press the shortcut you’d like to make an icon out of, and drag it to wherever you want it on your Home Screen.
