Out of memory error on Clie TH55

Hello,

I found no infos for my problem in the manual or forum so I post my question here.
After downloading and installing the demo version of PlecoDict and starting the application on my Sony Clie TH55 I get the following error message:

PlecoDB.cpp,Line:34, Out of memory!

and then I have to (soft) reset the handheld.
But there is enough free memory (>20MB on handheld, >100MB on MS).

Do you have any suggestions?

Hmm... this particular error actually isn't related to storage memory, but to program memory, so it could come up even if you have plenty of storage space.

That being said, the TH55 should have more than enough program memory to meet PlecoDict's requirements - are you using any unusual third-party software? Have you encountered memory errors with any other programs recently? Try a soft reset of your TH55 - does that help matters?

And other TH55 owners, have you ever encountered this error?

thnak you for your answer and sorry for my late response.
Soft-reseting the TH55 did not help.
But because you asked for unusual third party software I checked the list of installed programs. One attracted my attention because it also has to use chinese font in some way. The program is called "KingHanzi". I deleted it because I don't use it anymore and after that PlecoDict worked! What a lucky strike!
So again, thank you very much for your hint.

Interesting... I didn't think KingHanzi took up any memory when it wasn't running, but apparently it does. That's odd... well anyway, I'm glad you managed to resolve this.

similar problem on PEG-Sj22

I installed the new pleco dic with out any hitches but found the new version didn't install the larger high res font, just the one small font. After installing the larger font I get an 'out of memory, free up some ram' message as well. Disabling CJKOS doesn't help either.

Some minor annoyances - I'm not sure if it has something to do with my setup or whether its just the way the program is.

I found that when I'm on the "New Session" flashcards start page, I can't scroll down my flashcard lists by dragging on the scroll bar - I have to keep tapping the scroll bar until the screen moves to the relevant flashcard list. This is a little tiresome because I have about 50 flashcard lists to scroll through.

Also, after completing a flashcard test, the program redirects me automatically to the dictionary page, as opposed to the "New Session" flashcard page. This is different to the Oxford C-E system, which I prefer (since I usually do about 5 to 10 tests every session).

Can anything be done about either of the above? Admittedly, they're not big problems - so don't worry if nothing can be done, I just thought I'd ask.

TerracottaSoldier - try moving some files to an SD Card or Memory Stick. You can do this with everybody's favorite free utility program Filez (http://www.nosleep.net).

Rustic - the scrollbar dragging problem looks like a bug, but the exit to the main dictionary is by design - we assumed most people would prefer it that way. I suppose we could consider making this an option in a future update. (though it's getting to the point where we're going to have to write an entire extra instruction manual just for the Preferences screens - they barely fit in 7 pages now and it'll probably be 8 or 9 by the time we hit version 1.1)
