Partial pinyin search when using iOS Chinese Keyboard

Can't remember if I reported this or not, but I often switch between the iOS English and Chinese keyboard. If I am using the Chinese (pinyin) keyboard, I used to be able to see the partial results that matched the pinyin I've typed so far (even though I am using the Chinese keyboard). Now, if I want to see partial results that match the pinyin I'm typing, I find I have to be using the English keyboard.

When I am not 100% sure of what I'm looking for, it's useful for me to see the partial pinyin results, and the iOS autocomplete suggestions at the same time, but now I have to choose between one or the other. Hoping this bug can get fixed, as it is a big time saver for me. thx.

You did report it, yes - it turns out to be a very involved fix (it was easy in the old app because the old app had a bunch of weird iOS-3-era custom views in it) so unfortunately we haven't had time for it yet; it might only be possible with the legacy (search profile toggle button rather than tabs) search UI.

thanks for confirming. Can you clarify what you mean by the search profile toggle button? Is there a way to turn on the legacy search UI in 4.0?

Search Settings / Legacy search screen interface; it gets rid of the segmented control below the search bar and brings back an icon next to it instead. At the moment it doesn't fix this problem, I'm just saying it might turn out to be easier to fix it if we limit it to that interface.

Got it, understood. I'd be totally good with that as a compromise if it helps! That search interface worked really well for my use cases as it, anyway.
