Hopefully this will be the last release for a while:

http://www.pleco.com/ppcdownload.html (updated to link to the now-official 1.0)

Official release should be out on Tuesday, assuming no major new bugs crop up over the weekend.

No major interface changes in this version, but fixes for every bug that we know of and have been able to duplicate. Noticeable minor changes: the Import/Export screens now have progress counters (finally!), the keyboard now comes up automatically in List Properties and Edit Entry, and the demo font actually looks halfway decent now.

One other change which you'll only notice if you're using the demo version (and only once we release the official 1.0 demo with the necessary data files) is that handwriting recognition is now available in the demo. You can't use it to look up characters in the dictionary, but you can write in a character and see what matches the recognizer comes up with. (just like in Oxford E&C)

Coming in the official release: a revamped installer, which now lets you select the exact set of data files you want to install (and lets you remove them separately in Remove Programs).

Important note for Windows Mobile 5 users: due to yet another Silly Microsoft Thing, we've had to change the Device ID algorithm for Windows Mobile 5 devices in order to ensure that all WM5 devices can actually use our software. The timer in My Orders has been reset for all Pocket PC version purchasers and upgraders, so you can log on to My Orders to immediately receive a new keyfile for your updated Device ID.

Another WM5 note: due to a bug in the system used to sign .CAB files, we've been unable to develop a signed version of PlecoDict - our data files are too big for the signing server. So you'll have to click through a bunch of security warnings when installing PlecoDict. Hopefully they'll fix this bug eventually; in the meantime, you'll be able to avoid most of the warnings by using the new "Manual Install" option (where you copy the data files over to your Pocket PC directly).

any changes?

Hi!

Did you do any changes sinde this posts version and the final release? Do I need to upgrade again?

How come you recommend to uninstall the whole thing? I did not do that (since Beta3) but it seems that it runs fine now ...

before I had it installed on a CF-Card but my Dell Axim seems to loose this card quite often - so I decided to get rid of this problem and also some problems pleco has itsself being installed on a memory card. I installed it on the thing itsself and since that did not have any problems any more ...

I believe there was one fix, for a bug that could prevent the flashcard system from correctly demoting cards (if you had it configured to lower a card's rank if you answered it incorrectly a certain # of times).

The reason we recommend a reinstall is that we've changed the way the installer is packaged; now instead of just one PlecoDict .cab there'll be half a dozen of them. So you'll notice a bunch of entries for PlecoDict instead of just one in Remove Programs. This makes it easier for us to deliver upgrades on Windows Mobile 5 (which overwrites the previous version of anything it installs) and makes it easier for people to add/remove dictionaries and font files later on. Future updates will be packaged up on the assumption that everyone installed 1.0 from scratch. Also, the new installer forces font files to be installed to internal memory, so people who've been having stability problems because they installed the fonts to a storage card should have those corrected when they reinstall.

If you really want to avoid a reinstall, however, you can download the Mac/Linux "Manual Install" version of PlecoDict and replace your old PlecoDict.exe file with the new one from there.

Hi!

probably hard-resetting soon anyways ... so I will wait until that point.
English WM5 has some update that is not yet available in German ...
