Purchasing add-ons: can I carry them to later versions?

Hi all:

First post here. I've been happily using Pleco v2.2 until now because... well, it works for me. However, I want to buy some of the add-ons, and I wonder if I will still be able to use my purchases if I later upgrade to v3, or if I'll have to purchase them again.

Thanks in advance.

You can keep using them in v3. And if you buy a bundle, any items included in that bundle that are not compatible with v2 (text-to-speech, custom fonts, etc) will automatically activate once you upgrade to v3.

Hi,

Some related questions, though this has more to do with restoring than upgrading...

I have several iDevices sharing the same AppleID and running the latest compatible versions of Pleco and iOS:
- an iPad 1 with Pleco 2/iOS 5
- an iPod Touch 4 with Pleco 3/iOS 6
- an iPhone 5 with Pleco 3/iOS 7

Now I'd like to purchase a bundle (still undecided between basic/pro), which seemingly offers less content in v2 than in v3 for the same price (for compatibility reasons as Mike mentioned above). Any advice on how I should proceed?
(1) purchase from my iPhone (Pleco 3/iOS 7), then restore to older devices -- not sure though v2 won't crash trying to restore inexistent items
(2) purchase from my iPad (Pleco 2/iOS 5), then restore to newer devices (the "normal" way) -- can you confirm v3+ bundle items will be unlocked?

Also, are bundles sold as independent products with their own in-app ID, or as sets of multiple products with multiple in-app IDs? If a bundle were later modified (as recently with the basic bundle) or discontinued (as with the complete bundle), would it affect my ability to restore?

Thanks a lot!

Actually, you get the same content regardless of which version of Pleco for iOS you purchase on - the extra items simply won't be accessible on the device with the old version. So it makes no difference which iOS device you use.

Bundles have their own separate IDs. Changes won't affect your ability to restore, but when you restore you'll get the same bundle of items you purchased without any later changes. (This works both ways - we recently lowered the price of Basic and took NWP and TTS out of it, but people who bought when those were included will still get them when they restore)
