Text Selection

The text selection function doesn't seem to work as well as pre-4.0.

For instance, previous when selecting text and moving outside of the visible pane the screen would automatically scroll with the text selection. In 4.0 now, I do not appear to be getting any sort of scroll with the text selection. I think it might be because the “screen” is still visible behind the bottom toolbar (the one with “search,” “reader,” “flashcards,” etc.”) making dragging to the actual bottom of the screen quite difficult.

Lack of selection handles + scrolling. Before when scrolling it was easy to adjust selected text using the provided handles on either side. Now, I am not consistently able to find any text selection handles after attempting to scroll. Sometimes they do appear but clicking on the screen again forces the text selection to disappear. Especially if I’m trying to scroll to continue the text selection further down below.

The margin issue with toolbars should be fixed in the next beta.

Lack of handles: which type of document are you seeing this in? This is actually one of the areas that's seen the fewest code changes from 3.0 so if it's misbehaving it's probably a newly introduced bug of some kind.

After some testing I think I may have been wrong about the handles, I think they're still there just under/over the margins making them appear missing.

One additional issue I'm finding with selecting text also appears in pop-ups. In pop-ups text selection looks to be disabled. In Outlier for instance all of text in the the "Reference," "How to use this info," etc. pop-ups doesn't seem to be selectable. Dictionary pop-ups, likewise, don't appear to have any selectable text.

A lot of those notes are currently in HTML; that's intended to be temporary, but we don't currently have a reliable way to simultaneously support HTML tap lookups and long-press text selection.
