transferring and retaining long form

Hello. Thanks for all your help so far. I successfully transferred my flashcards from my Zire72 (using Oxford Dictionary purchased in '05) to my Treo (using PlecoDict Complete purchased in '07) However many of the flashcards are in short form. I primarily study the long form so if anyone knows a way to convert these flashcards to long form it would be a great help.

What do you mean by "long form"? If you're referring to traditional versus simplified characters, simply switching PlecoDict into traditional character mode should get the flashcards to display that way. If that doesn't help, try exporting the flashcards from Oxford Dict as a text file (instead of PalmDoc / Memo), then open that text file in Microsoft Word or an international-friendly text editor and save it in Big5 encoding (instead of GB). Import the cards into PlecoDict with that encoding system and that should get them all into traditional characters.

No, I honestly hadn't heard that term used to refer to traditional characters before. Seems a bit confusing, really, they're not any "longer" than simplified ones, they just have a few more strokes.

That's funny. I was guessing that "short form" meant that the definitions were brief entries (as out of CEDICT) instead of more complete definitions (as out of ABC). I figured the flashcards might have merged with the wrong dictionary.

Shows what I know!
