Use Back Button to Exit Current Screen OCR

Hi,
Would it be possible to add a custom setting (for each user) for Screen OCR on Android that allows the phone’s Back button to immediately exit the current OCR screen and ready for the next OCR?

For occasional use, the current behavior is fine. However, when using Screen OCR frequently, having to exit it through the current interface becomes a little inconvenient and slows down the workflow.

I actually mentioned a similar request on the forum several years ago, and I still think having an optional setting for this would be very useful for people who use Screen OCR heavily.

Ideally, this could just be an optional behavior in the settings, so users who prefer the current behavior would not be affected.

Sorry, it should be doing that already - is it not doing it for you now? What model of phone do you have and what version of Android is it running? The intent is that we only show the X button when we detect that your phone is set up to use a back swipe gesture instead of a back button, and either way the button should still work if it's available.

Thanks for the reply. The Back button does work, but I should have explained the issue more clearly.

I’m using a Galaxy S24 Ultra with Android 16 and the Pleco beta. After I start Screen OCR and tap a word, the dictionary popup opens. If I then want to leave that OCR screen, I have to press Back twice: once to close the popup and again to exit OCR. I can also close the popup by tapping an empty area, but that still takes two actions.

What I’m hoping for is an optional setting where one Back action closes both the popup and the current OCR screen, bringing back the floating Screen OCR button so I can scan something else.

I use Screen OCR a lot. It has become much faster and more accurate, so this extra step is now quite noticeable during frequent use. I share a short screen shot if that would help.
