Pleco Usage: iPad with Apple Pencil, flashcards and dictionary search with handwriting input, long practice sessions on tables/couches/bed/airplanes.
A recent update has provided more space to rest the writing hand on screen, by allowing screen rotation to mirror handwriting sides. This is awesome, thank you!
(Admittedly the writing hand doesn't need 2/3 of the screen, but it works, so no complaints there!)
There are still a few tablet-related problems, if you have time - currently only #1 is preventing app function use, but #2 and #3 would also be huge quality-of-life improvements!
1) (biggest problem) In Dictionary Search, could we have a side for left-handed writing too?
(Most problems are symmetrical; this is the only problem I've found specific to left handers.)
When using Dictionary Search, the handwriting input box is in the bottom center. This makes it necessary to hover the writing hand over the screen, or arm skin will click/delete a bunch of stuff.
Vertical mode helps, but only for right handers (in both verticals).
Since it seems the current fix is to allow opposite rotations for righties/lefties, I'm really hoping the "lefty dictionary rotation" can match the "lefty flashcard rotation" (first screenshot at top), to avoid physically rotating for every mode switch.
(As always, it would be great to have screen space to rest the writing hand, but for now, I'm mostly just hoping for less accidental clicks.)
2) In Flashcards: handwriting input, could we have an option to show the target number of character boxes, like in Legacy Pleco?
LEGACY flashcard input had individual empty boxes for each character in the answer.
Meanwhile, BETA flashcard answer input area is just one long text box.
It's often impossible to know if the correct answer is 1, 2, 3, or even 4 characters, and sometimes it feels more like guessing, instead of practice.
3) In Flashcards: handwriting input, can the handwriting-detected character choices be closer to the submit button?
This would save a lot of hand movement for choosing and submitting, especially when practicing hundreds of flashcards!
4) In any writing mode, can we have an option to change handwriting line thickness for finger/pens?
Beta's bolder lines make it difficult to write smaller.
5) In Flashcards, can the "Back", "Mark", "Forward", and "Skip Forward" buttons be grouped together under the submit button?
When using Flashcards, the "Back" button (left-handers) and "Skip Forward" button (right-handers) are located directly under the writing arm.
There have only been a few accidental presses, but it does happen mid-writing.
